Ouch, that sucks man.

Let me know what I can do to help. I'm sure Blizz has a system for this but if it leaves you lacking let me know and I can heal ya thru some stuff, or whatever.

Kia's account was hacked last week....and it's not even an active account. His brother saw that his character was on....kia contacted wow and they emailed that they gave him his stuff back.

So crazy that it's so easy for them to do...and our account was even closed at the time.

Mine got hacked this morning. They cleaned out the guild bank and all of my toons as well as deleting Gigo completely. Found Rev under the terrain in WG.

They've escalated it to the specialist. Here's hoping they are as good with my recovery as they were with yours Moose.

update: looks like I interrupted them, they changed my PW while I was on-line filling out a ticket in an attempt to lock me out. Luckily they aren't in my Email. I changed it again and I once again have access to my compromised account.

Well bummer, good thing is it shouldn't take too long for them to restore Gigo and your stuff. With all this hacking I'm thinking one of those authenticators might actually be worth it.

well that's gotta be some kind of record, they had my stuff restored inside of 4 hours.

Took me longer to check my Email than it did for them to deal with it, lol

So far it looks like I'm only out some honor and a few consumables.

I never like to see anyone get hacked like this, it's a shame. I will take this opportunity though to remind everyone of the importance of a good Internet Security Suite to be installed on your workstations. I have played WoW since it was in beta and have never been hacked once. The best product you can put on your workstations in my professional opinion is:

ESET Smart Security

Moose recently transitioned to it once he got hacked and I believe Lizentor was changing over to it as well. If anyone wanting a really great read on ESET versus all the rest, I encourage you to hit a newsstand and pick up the latest edition of Maximum PC. They did a great writeup this month on Internet Security Suites with ESET beating everything out there. Sorry if I sound like an ESET fan boy here, but it is simply proved itself to me at the best security suite you can spend your hard-earned money on. I have it on three laptops and the desktop I am working on now and have never had a malware or virus infestation on any of them.

I'm gonna follow Jaswa's lead and just blame windows7 4 years of flying under the radar and not 2 weeks after I upgrade...

I use the security suite that comes with my service bundle from my ISP. It might not be the greatest out there, but it's theirs and they support it, so at least if things do go bad I have a support team to blame for it/fix it.

Well the Windows 7 theory won't work for us....Kia doesn't have it on his comp. and his account was hacked....and it was a closed account that was hacked....some people obviously got a hold of a bunch of account information that they were not supposed to have. Notice how fast blizz restored the items.....they are getting good at it now. Obviously happening more often.

oh well all the tukes were still there and had their clothes on. I wonder if there are any common add-ons or did any of you figure out how your account was broken into....

lol, you did freak me out a bit when you logged in last night. I saw the one toon go offline and then had to figure out if any of the others had been online recently and if I needed to quarantine the tukes.

As to "how" I'm not really sure. I'm *fairly* certain I'm not sporting a keylogger. Both Moose's and my accounts were used for teleport hack mining in WG so those 2 at least wern't some kids hackin teh net, it's gold farmers.

They did try to hang onto my account after they'd been "spotted" so that tends to make me think they don't have access to so many accounts they can just burn them if a red flag goes up.

wow 4 hours . lol it took them about 36 on mine.

BTW Mine got hacked 5 days after switching to windows 7 and then going from Mcaffee to Nortons(ISP changed). ESET is a very tight suite. Updated daily(sometimes 2-3) and it checks your windows updates as well so you are always in compliance there as well . It has blocked a couple sites flash bombs.

Well add my WoW account to the list of hacked accounts. Fortunetly I was on the hubby's account and saw Fourtae come on. I can't believe I am going to admit this but even though my husband was at work I looked over at his desk to make sure it wasn't him lol. I think I caught the offender before any damage was done and of course changed my password.

nice save! That's pretty lucky you were on-line to see it.

pretty sure now that I got hacked because at the time I wasn't practicing proper password segregation and was instead using a single pw/Email addy for all WoW related stuffs.

Word has been getting around that guildportal network of sites might have been compromised and wouldn't you know it less than a week before being hacked I signed up on one of their sites. ( I was healing for a guild that runs a DKP system and I wanted to play)

So think back, do you use your WoW PW for anything else? Like I said I'm pretty sure that's how I messed up.
