Default 360 Playing Days May Be Over - 01-25-2010

So my 360 died, red ring of death, again Friday night. For all purposes, this is the THIRD time this has happened to me. The first system I bought in 2006 was dead right out of the box. The second system red ringed in the summer/fall (can't remember) of 2007. They repaired that for free, after some arguing. This was right before they extended the warranty for the red ring problem. Then Friday night it happened again. So convenient that it happens only a few months after my 3 year red ring warranty expired. So they will repair it for the $100 repair fee. I'm not paying it. I think what ticks me off more than the fact that Microsoft released a malfunctioning system to the public, is the fact that they will not repair the ones for free that have fried multiple times. They should have fixed it permanently the first time this happened. There is no way I'm paying $100 for them to repair a system that has already been repaired once. So I think my three options are:

1. Bite the bullet and just buy a brand new Elite for $299.
2. Crack open my 360, try to fix it myself, surely breaking it more, and having to buy a new Elite anyway.
3. Not be a 360 customer anymore, trade all my games in for Wii/PS3 games, and then smash my system into a 1000 pieces with a sledgehammer....recorded on tape and posted to YouTube obviously for your all's enjoyment.

That sucks man. I think the only reason mine hasn't died is because I only play it once a month I saw a graph somewhere and it was around 20 or 30 percent of failures for Xbox. The PS3 and Wii were in the single digits.

Hey if you do decide to do #3, be sure to have a Geto Boys song on the video.

I read that the failure rate for the older generation 360's is near 70%. Funny thing is that I literally had not even turned my 360 on in three weeks. I've been playing the heck out of God of War. So it's been barely used for the past month, and then dies as soon as I turn it on, so it's not like I played some marathon gaming session and it overheated.
